manage notebook recycle bins
Deleting notes You can delete notes in OneNote Web App, although the process differs slightly, depending on what you’re deleting. The following sections discuss deleting notebooks, sections, and pages, as well as how to get a deleted notebook back from the SkyDrive Recycle Bin.
Manage Noteook from recycle bin
create new / naming page / pin unpin previous file / close file from push pin / than delete file from mydocuments , onenotebook folder and recover from recycle bin
Salvaging deleted notebooks from SkyDrive’s Recycle Bin Although deleting sections and pages is final, deleting a notebook or any other file from SkyDrive.com puts that file into the Recycle Bin, which is accessible at the bottom of the left sidebar. To retrieve a previously deleted notebook, follow these steps:
- While logged in to SkyDrive.com, click or tap the Recycle Bin link near the bottom of the sidebar at left. A list of your deleted files appears.
- Select the check box next to the notebook you want to restore and click or tap Restore at the top of the page. You can also right-click or press and hold on a file and choose Restore. Your file is restored to the location it was in before you deleted it.
manage backups
Backing Up Important Data Accessing notes from wherever you are is discussed to some degree in other chapters,
but it bears repeating and perhaps expounding on a bit. Here are a few examples of how OneNote backups can save your rear:
OneNote 2013 includes options similar to other Office apps as well as options that are all its own. You can view OneNote’s options
- by clicking or tapping on the File tab and choosing Options.
- Mouse over or press on the little i with a circle around it at the right side of any option to see more information about it.
And an option dialogue box will appear where you will find save back up option
Save & Backup: This section, shown in Figure 2-6, lets you modify the default save locations and intervals of saved and backed up notes, as well as the default location for cache files. Also here are buttons allowing you to back up notebooks or changed files along with options to configure file optimization.
Delete notebooks on your computer. Deleting notebooks is not intuitive in OneNote at all, because it’s not an action even represented on the OneNote 2013 interface. To delete a notebook, you have to delete the folder for it in Windows Explorer and delete the backup for it there as well. On my Windows 8 computer, the backup folder is at C:\Users\username\AppData\ Local\Microsoft\OneNote\15.0\Backup. Check the Save & Backup item in OneNote options to change backup options. Note that you have to have hidden folders viewable (you can change this in File Explorer’s Folder Options) to view the AppData folder or anything within it.
Delete notebooks on SkyDrive. Simply log in to your SkyDrive, right-click or press and hold on the notebook, and choose Delete. The file will go to the SkyDrive Recycle Bin and will be deleted after 30 days.
