Mobility Center, or click the icon on a tile to open the utility in the
Control Panel, where you can make additional changes.
Managing Sync Settings
Windows 7’s Sync Center enables you to synchronize data between folders
in two different locations—between your home and office networks, for
example, or between your notebook PC and a portable music player
device. To access this feature, click the Sync Settings button to open the
Sync Settings window, and then follow the instructions from there.
Activating Presentation Settings Mode
Many businesspeople use their PCs to give presentations, either on the
road or down the hall in the boardroom. When you do so, however, you
don’t want your screen saver activating after a few minutes, or your notebook
powering down if you haven’t tapped a key for awhile. In other
words, you want to turn your notebook computer into a somewhat dedicated
presentation machine.
You do this by activating Windows’ Presentation Settings mode. In this
mode, your notebook always stays awake, the screen saver is disabled,
and all system notifications are turned off. In other words, no unexpected
distractions during your presentation.
Not surprisingly, you activate the Presentation Settings mode from the
Mobility Center’s Presentation Settings panel. Just click the Turn On button
to enable Windows’ presentation settings, or Turn Off to disable them
when the presentation is over.
Sync with a Music Device
- Connect a device, such as an iPod, to your computer and open Windows Media Player.
- Click the Sync tab; a Device Setup dialog box appears
- Name the device, and click Finish. The device is now synced with Windows Media Player and will be automatically updated whenever you connect it to your computer.
